For those who enjoy aviation, 13 will be a lucky number this summer as 13 amazing and recognisable RAF aircraft are scheduled to appear at the Southport Air Show on July 13 and 14.
Going back to their nine-aircraft display for their 60th Diamond Year, the RAF Red Arrows will shine during the two days of the event. In addition, the town’s seafront will see the solo RAF Typhoon and the three vintage WWII aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight soar through the skies.
Cllr Christine Howard, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:
“It’s great that during English Tourism Week, we can announce the appearance of so many amazing aircraft at the Southport Air Show, an annual event that see thousand flock to the town. As we get closer to July, we will be announcing the other aircraft that will make up the two days’ thrilling display schedules and more details of the ground attractions, which include flight simulators, static aircraft climbing walls and an assault course, too.”
Southport Air Show is just one of the exciting events for Sefton residents and tourists this summer. There is the free-entry Southport Food & Drink Festival, from Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June, and the British Musical Fireworks Championship on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st September, for which tickets are already on sale.
Led by VisitEngland, English Tourism Week aims to increase the awareness of the quality and variety of the English tourism has to offer, to people across the country.
Cllr Howard added:
“Southport and Sefton’s stunning 22-mile coastline are a huge draw for tourists from across the country and our programme of spectacular summer events helps to attract new visitors and keep them coming back year after year.”
The Southport Air Show’s tickets went on sale in January and are typically sold out fast. Under-16s enter for free, while adults pay just £12 (with a discount for groups of ten or more).
